Similar Sports

Hockey is only one of the many team sports out there available for people to play and enjoy. It is also one of the many stick and ball sports. The irish game of hurling is also very similar to hockey and its scottish cousin shinty which both involve a stick and ball. Beikou is a game very similar to field hockey. It is played in China and has been around for over 1,000 years. In Australia years ago, settlers discovered a game the native Austalians played called Dumbleyung which involved a bent sick hitting a ball made out of sap from the peartree. It was named dumbleyung after a near by town. I'm sure most of you did not realize that there were so many sports so similar to hockey as I did not realize this myself. I hope to discover and inform you all how we came from these many stick and ball games to the modern hockey played today.
